Outstanding results were recorded at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Select Racehorse Sale in Victoria today, with gross sales of $4,132,250.
Headlined by the annual reduction for Hudson Conway Racing, whose 61 offerings averaged $57,738, and reinforced by drafts from Darley, Wadham Park, Contract Racing, Makybe and Eales Racing today’s sale recorded a 100% clearance rate.
“On behalf of Inglis I would very much like to thank Nick and Lloyd Williams for their great support of this new sale, along with the backing of our other select vendors who all came here to sell and they were well rewarded with a very strong turn-out of buyers,” said Inglis Melbourne Bloodstock Director Peter Heagney.
“Every Australian state and territory is represented on the buyers list, plus Macau and Hong Kong, illustrating how much demand there is around the region for well-credentialed racing stock,” Heagney said.
The highest price record on the day was for lightly raced three-year-old gelding Infuse (Lot 57), a winner at Flemington in January, which sold for $330,000.
Exciting young staying type Deductible (Lot 33) was sold for $200,000 to race in Macau by the team behind Raffles Racing, who also secured Pont (Lot 77) for $85,000.
Stakes winning Encosta de Lago gelding Niblick(Lot 74) was also sold from the draft of Hudson Conway Racing for $200,000 and will race for Western Australia owner for Emile Panossian.
Impressive last start Moonee Valley winner Accrual (Lot 4) will be heading west into the stable of Perth trainer Lindsey Smith who snapped up the three-year-old by Al Maher for $150,000.
Troy Corstens and Justin Bahen have had a busy week purchasing yearlings at the Melbourne Premier Sale and the pair combined to secure four lots today including young Savabeel gelding Henwood (Lot 52) for $160,000 under their Malua Bloodstock / Bahen Bloodstock banner.
“It has been great to see the momentum created through the ever improving Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale flow through into today’s Select Racehorse Sale, and we certainly look forward to cementing this sales position into our calendar as an annual must-attend event,” Heagney added.
Buyers’ next chance to pick up a tried horse at an Inglis auction is at the Sydney Autumn Thoroughbred Sale on Friday March 9, followed by the Melbourne March Thoroughbred Sale on Friday March 9.
It is also now just over a month away to the prestigious Australian Easter Yearling Sale, which will be held in Sydney on April 10 to 12. Easter is the yearling sales source of today’s sale topper Infuse, who was selected from Easter for just $90,000 in 2010.
