The extraordinary success of Inglis Digital continued this afternoon when outstanding filly Miss Roseiano (Exceed And Excel) became the most expensive horse sold on the platform this year, realising $1,275,000 to Tom Magnier.
The Gelagotis Racing-trained-and-offered 3YO was the subject of a memorable bidding war, with four prospective buyers placing bids above $1m.
Such was the intense interest in Miss Roseiano, the boutique one-horse sale didn’t end until 4.56pm, 56 minutes after the 4pm final countdown of bidding began.
She eventually sold to Magnier and became not only the most expensive horse sold on Inglis Digital this year but the second to realise $1m or more in the past six days alone following the sale of Another Award for $1.2m in the July (Early) Sale.
In the past month, six horses have now sold for more than $600,000 on Inglis Digital to four different buyers – Miss Roseiano ($1,275,000 to Tom Magnier), Another Award ($1,200,000), Daisies ($920,000) and Literary Magnate ($640,000) all to Yulong, More Aspen ($720,000 to Ultra Thoroughbreds) and She’s All Class ($620,000 to Matt Scown Bloodstock).
Manny Gelagotis of Gelagotis Racing described today’s result as “unbelievable’’.
“We’re absolutely thrilled, over the moon with the result,’’ Gelagotis said.
“It’s just great for everyone involved – it’s a proud moment for us as a stable to be able to sell a filly like her for a price like that, it’s a fantastic result for the clients and ownership group and it’s great to see her go to such a good home in Coolmore.
“It was a terrific job by Inglis and their whole team, the marketing of the filly to the public and to the right buyers was absolutely spot on and the end result was just outstanding.
“For what we do, we’re a strong boutique stable and we really focus our energies on that and we wanted to present her to the market in the best possible condition, which I think we did, and Inglis did the rest. It was awesome.’’
Magnier confirmed Miss Roseiano would be retired immediately and be served this season by boom stallion Justify.
“She’s been bought to go to Justify, the team and I think she’s an ideal match for him both physically and on pedigree,’’ Magnier said.
“She’s from a great family, she was an exciting race filly and Justify could not be going any better, having both the highest rated two-year-old colt and two-year-old filly in Europe in addition to some hugely exciting horses here including [Inglis Millennium winner] Learning To Fly whom we know well.
“It was a pretty intense bidding scenario as it can be on Inglis Digital who always do a great job with this platform, but we were delighted to get her.
“In quite a coincidence, literally as the bidding clock ended, Justify was landing in Australia to cover another hugely exciting book of mares, now including Miss Roseiano, so hopefully there is a positive omen there.’’
The Inglis Digital action doesn’t stop there, with entries for the July (Late) Sale now open and will close at midnight tomorrow (Wednesday July 19).
Already confirmed for the sale is the dual G2 winner with earnings of over $1m, Jamaea.
