Multiple city winning and stakes placed mare Mont Fleuri was the star turn as the 2011 Inglis Weanling and Bloodstock Sale came to a close at Newmarket today.
The stallion, yearling and racehorse section generated solid interest, with $605,700 grossed during the session.
The Cape Cross mare Mont Fleuri (pictured), winner of four races, $250,000 and stakes placed in the Group 3 Thousand Guineas Prelude, was knocked down to Neil Jenkinson for $180,000.
Today’s selling took the three day sale total beyond the $5.8million mark.
A feature of this week’s sale has been the amount of activity online. No less than 66 horses were sold via the Online Bidding service this week, with 64 individual bidders competing on a total of 204 lots.
“Headed by Mont Fleuri, we had a very strong racehorse section today and the better credentialed broodmares all sold well,” Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy said.
“This sale has only been going a few short years but has quickly developed into a good marketplace. Buyers have told us they appreciate seeing weanlings offered at this time of year, giving them a little more time to develop.
“Hopefully we can capitalise on the good results this week with a better catalogue next year.”
Horses passed in this week are still available for sale via the Inglis Make an Offer service. Interested parties can view a photograph of all passed in horses on the Make an Offer website.
The next sale on the Inglis calendar is the August Thoroughbred Sale on August 18 and 19 at Oaklands. Download an Entry form HERE. Entries close on July 1.
Then comes the Scone Broodmare Sale on August 26. Entries close on July 15 and entry forms can be downloaded HERE.
