More Classic Glory for Edinglassie?

6th Feb 2006

There is no greater advertisement for a vendor than racetrack success and as consignors of this season’s star colts God’s Own and Nadeem, leading Classic vendors Mick and Michelle Talty have hit a real purple patch.

The couple’s Edinglassie Stud sold the 2006 Classic catalogue coverstar God’s Own in 2004 for $220,000. As winner of the Group 1 MRC Caulfield Guineas this Spring and runner-up in last Saturday’s Lightning stakes, he has earned connections over $800,000 and is currently heading the early betting for the Doncaster with fellow Inglis graduate Mnemosyne (Easter $700,000).

Topping the juvenile colts division is the exciting Redoute's Choice colt Nadeem, sold by Edinglassie at the 2005 Easter sale for $700,000 and currently leading the Golden Slipper market having won the Maribyrnong Plate (Gr 3) at Flemington in November.

On the back of this high-profile success, buyers will be paying close attention to the 16-strong Edinglassie draft in the hope of finding another God’s Own among them.

“With the Classic sale you know the people will be there and we have some lovely types to offer this year, particularly colts,” said Mick Talty.

Talty pinpoints lot 153, a colt by Flying Spur, as an especially nice individual. “He’s a lovely athletic strong looking colt, well-balanced with a good attitude,” he said.

During the second session lot 312, a colt by Show A Heart out of the Royal Academy mare Academy Of Dreams, could also be one to watch.

“He’s a lovely scopey colt and the Show A Heart’s are going well at the moment,” he commented.

As agent for Davilora Lodge, Edinglassie will also offer lot 214, a colt by Danehill Dancer with a particularly eye-catching pedigree, being out of an unraced sister to Group 3 winner Cheval Place, multiple Listed winner Snippet’s Girl (dam of SW Academy Dancer) and stakeswinner Snippets’ Show.

Lot 60 is also consigned on behalf of Davilora Lodge and is a full-brother to the useful looking juvenile Solar Mighty (2005 Easter $60,000) out of the Group 1 SAJC Oaks runner-up Madame Plume.

Among the rest of the Edinglassie draft are yearlings by King Of Danes, General Nediym, Desert Prince, Galileo, Black Minnaloushe, Faltaat and Danzero.
