Mornington back on Fuddle agenda

Perth Racing - Sunday, 22 January 2012

The $250,000 Inglis Premier (1200 metres) at Mornington on February 15 is back on the cards for the classy Fuddle Dee Duddle following her dogged win in the Advanced Hot Water & Air Plate (1100 metres) at Ascot on Saturday.

Glenn Smith was quick to get moving on the Red Ransom filly, sweeping wide around the outside of runners rounding the home bend and then gunning down Bantry Belle in the run to the line.

The impressive debutant Rubacuori tracked the winner throughout and was doing her best work at the finish.

Fuddle Dee Duddle resumed with a lack lustre tenth to Playhouse Theatre at Ascot on January 7 and trainer Lindsey Smith decided to increase the fillies work load and she looked much fitter pre-race.

“If she pulls up well she can go to Mornington for that Inglis Sales Graduates race. She still wanted to do a few things wrong today and she maybe looking for more ground already but that was a good win and she deserves to take her chance in a $250,000 race.” Lindsey Smith said post-race.

It was the second win at start four for Fuddle Dee Duddle, who took her prize earnings to $75,000 following the victory.

Bantry Belle stuck on well to finish in second place for William Pike, with the third placed Rubacuori catching the eye over the final stages.
