NEW SHOWCASE AT AUSTRALIAN WEANLING AND BREEDING STOCK SALE

11th Feb 2008

William Inglis & Son have today announced an exciting new concept to be held in conjunction with the new Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale, held at Newmarket in Sydney on the 26th through to the 30th of June.

As part of this breeding stock sale, William Inglis will be holding a New Sire Showcase to highlight those weanlings that are sired by first season sires. While the Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale may have some 500 weanlings entered, this New Sire Showcase will be selected and limited to 75 weanlings only, with these weanlings having their own separate promotional index and section in the catalogue.

The weanlings that are selected to participate in the New Sire Showcase will be sold at the beginning of the sale with known weanling buyers specifically targeted to attend the sale. A day prior to the sale a cocktail party and parade of the weanlings through the ring will be conducted with this parade televised on TVN live to a national audience giving those weanlings unprecedented national exposure.

“With TVN as partners in this sale we believe that the New Sire Showcase will give vendors a unique chance to have their weanling stand out in front of a national audience beyond those in attendance at the sale. First season sires attract a strong buying bench, which is a great bonus for all the weanlings in the Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale as it should translate into strong sales throughout, “ said William Inglis & Son Director of Auctions Jonathan D’arcy. "Obviously after the recent New Zealand sale we are in active discussions with NZB and MAF in New Zealand to make sure that New Zealand weanling buyers will be in attendence at the sale. The latest that we have heard is that they are working towards a settlement of the quarantine issue that will make our breeding stock sale the best option for weanling sellers to attract the very active New Zealand based weanling buying bench."

The closing date for the Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale is May 2nd, a date that gives vendors a lot of time to evaluate their weanling.

"In speaking with our vendors we have realized that it is very difficult to be making a decision if a weanling should go through a sale held in June back in February when many foals haven’t been weaned so we have elected to make the entry for our Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale close in early May to give our vendors a better chance to evaluate their weanlings and make the right decision, “ D’arcy added.

The Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale also represents a great opportunity for owners and trainers to sell their fillies off the track at the completion of the Brisbane racing carnival and just prior to the breeding season as well as tax-mares to be sold just prior to the end of the tax year. Both the Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale and Easter Broodmare sale will be commission free sales for stock sold beyond $100,000.

Entries for the traditional Easter Broodmare Sale, run on the 4th, 5th and 6th of May are closing this Fridaythe 22nd of February and the sale has already attracted some outstanding entries.

“We already have some very good mares entered for this sale including a number of high class racemares and mares in foal to high class stallions and we are delighted with the response. In particular we have some mares in foal to prominent Northern Hemisphere sires including Distorted Humor, Dynaformer, Singspiel and Gone West entered in the sale so we are sure that the buying bench for this broodmare sale will be particularly strong,” D’arcy said.

In addition to the New Sire Showcase, William Inglis & Son will be offering two other initiatives that should assist vendors in the sale of their breeding stock.
1. The Family Deal - When you sell your broodmare at the Australian Easter Broodmare Sale or the Australian Breeding Stock Sale on 26 - 30 June 2008 you will be eligible to sell her weanling commission free at the Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale on 26 - 30 June 2008.
2. Inglis Rollover - If you enter your broodmare or racemare in the Australian Easter Broodmare Sale and subsequently withdraw or pass the mare in at the sale, you have the option of free entry to the Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale 26 - 30 June 2008.
