New Sire Showcase Opportunity for Trainers

16th Jun 2008

Trainers are invited to next Wednesday’s (June 25) parade of weanlings in the New Sire Showcase ahead of the William Inglis Australian Weanling & Breeding Stock Sale, which begins the following morning on June 26.

The parade of the 101 weanlings – all by first crop stallions -will be held between 4 and 5pm and will be followed by a Cocktail Party at the Inglis Newmarket complex from 5.30pm, to which all trainers are invited to attend.

Trainers who cannot make it to Newmarket can take in all the action via TVN’s delayed coverage of the parade later that evening.

Sires represented in the New Sire Showcase include Australian Group 1 winners like Golden Slipper winner Stratum, stunning Caulfield Guineas hero God’s Own, dual hemisphere performer Starcraft, Snitzel, Undoubtedly, Barely A Moment and Benicio.

The New Sire Showcase will also feature progeny by northern hemisphere Group 1 winners Consolidator, Dubawi, Oratorio, Rakti and Southern Image.

“This represents a great opportunity for trainers to have a close up look at the type of progeny these new stallions are throwing and garner information for next year’s yearling sales,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.

“It is a way of assessing these new stallions early and then being able to advise clients on which sires they should look out for in 2009.”

Webster said he was thrilled with the catalogue assembled for this inaugural sale.

“Breeders have really got behind this new concept and we have some outstanding young horses to sell next week,” he said.

In addition to the Select Weanling sessions on June 26 and 27, the Breeding Stock Sale features some of the most desirable broodmares to have come on the market this year and it promises to be an exciting few days at Newmarket.
