MAKYBE will embark on their first official race sponsorship, choosing next Saturday’s $100,000 Inglis Race Series two-year-old event in Melbourne to be known as the MVRC Purrealist Inglis Bonus.
The race, to be run over 1200m on July 11, was originally set down for Moonee Valley, but the MVRC meeting will now be conducted on the Sandown Lakeside course.
Nominations for the race, which carries a $100,000 Inglis bonus for eligible graduates on top of the base prizemoney of $70,000 and Super Vobis, close next Monday, July 6.
MAKYBE were the leading vendor by average at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, as well as the leading vendor by aggregate at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale in March where they also sold the top price lot.
This season they will stand two outstanding young prospects at their Gnarwarre base. Purrealist (by Tale Of The Cat) will cover his second book, alongside Street Cry’s exciting first season son Street Hero, a Grade 1 winning juvenile in the United States.
“This race is the perfect fit for MAKYBE to commence race sponsorship given our association with Inglis and the MVRC where Makybe Diva won that memorable Cox Plate after circling the field,” said MAKYBE Operations Manager Deslee Santic.
MAKYBE’s involvement in the series follows Reavill Farm’s sponsorship of the Inglis Bonus on Hawkesbury Guineas day this May. Super Vobis and Chatswood Stud have also weighed in to support the Chatswood Vase Inglis Bonus (1300m. 0-72) to be run at Seymour on August 23.
“It is a great endorsement that the Inglis bonuses are attracting sponsorship from our clients, which in turn generates all important revenue for the race clubs that are conducting them,” said Inglis Commercial Development Manager Matt Rudolph.
Next week’s race will be followed by the Clarence River Jockey Club 2YO Plate, which carries a $50,000 Bonus, on July 16 – Grafton Cup Day.
This will be the final 2YO Bonus event for 2008 graduates, before the first 3YO Bonus will be run over 1300m at Rosehill (3yo Qty) on August 1.
For 2009 yearling sale graduates, nominations to the Series close at 5pm, July 31.
