Nominations for the 2009 Inglis Challenge close on Monday

Nominations for the running of the $100,000 Inglis Scone Challenge on Scone Cup Day, Friday May 15, close this coming Monday May 11 at 11am.

The Inglis Challenge is the fourth select sale race in the $2,500,000 Inglis Race Series, following on from the success of FEAR NO OTHER, TALE OF LOVE & WESTERN RAIDER in the Inglis Classic, Inglis Premier & Inglis Plate so far this year.

Restricted to horses that were offered at the 2008 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale the 2009 Inglis Challenge carries very rewarding prizemoney with $60,000 for first place, down to $2,000 for 8th.

A number of challenge hopefuls have been put through their paces this week, with PRETTY USEFUL ($16,000 2008 SCONE, 2g Youthful Legs-Pretty Mover) bringing local trainer Mack Griffith his fourth winner of the Muswellbrook Starmaker in the past five years last Sunday. This was followed up by a fighting performance of TAGURIT ($7,500 2008 SCONE, 2f Noverre-Flock) to finish 3rd to the smart Khas Jura at Canterbury on Wednesday. The running of the 2009 Inglis Challenge looks like it will be another hottly contested affair.

The Inglis Race Series moves to Hawkesbury this weekend, with a $100,000 Inglis Bonus on the Reavill Farm Inglis Series 2YO Handicap. Goulburn trainer Danny Williams is hoping take home his second Inglis Bonus with TAKE THIS WALTZ, whom collected an extra $50,000 for his victory at Wagga Wagga on April 30.
