After a glittering run of success for graduates of the Premier Sale, the next batch of future winners have started to arrive at the Oaklands Junction sales complex in preparation for the 2008 renewal of the Melbourne Premier sale that commences on Sunday.
Major drafts from studs the ilk of Arrowfield, Bellerive, Eliza Park, Fulmen Park, Makybe, Phoenix Farm, Widden, Willow Park and Yallambee have arrived on the complex this morning with many more scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
With Group One winning graduates like Weekend Hussler and Sacred Kingdom in recent weeks, the interest in the sale is understandably extremely strong.
“Obviously it helps to have sold good winners but one of the real areas of strength in the sale this year is the depth of stallion representation we have,” says William Inglis Melbourne Director Peter Heagney. “All of Australia’s leading sires have yearlings at the Premier Sale so it’s no surprise that the demand for catalogues is strong.”
The brilliant Weekend Hussler was consigned by Arrowfield two years ago and they have four lots by Hussonet as well as sister farm Bellerive Stud with a further six by Hussonet. Eliza Park, Fulmen Park and Yallambee all have big drafts and the inspections had already commenced under sunny skies this morning.
“Of course we look forward to seeing old friends as well as welcoming new ones this week,” Heagney says. “With the sale commencing on Sunday we are looking forward to the running of the $500,000 Inglis Premier Race at Caulfield on Saturday where we will see the emergence of another high-class graduate of the Premier Sale.
