Coolmore - Coolmore News - Sunday, 22nd February 2009
With only hours remain for breeders to become involved in the Coolmore Australia stallion nomination auction the challenge has gone out to break through the $400,000 mark.
Outstanding support from across and has ensured that this worthy cause has rocketed to $388,000. Now only a bid or two is required to carry the total through the $400,000 ceiling.
“Breeders from across and and media from across the world have been fantastic to date but the auction isn’t over yet,” said Michael Kirwan, Coolmore Australia’s General Manager.
“There is one final day to bid and I can only encourage breeders who are thinking about becoming involved in this most worthy cause to do so. Please make a bid. Please know that your contribution will be forwarded on to those who need it most by Coolmore Australia.”
A week ago Coolmore Australia announced that an auction would commence to raise funds for those who have had their lives irreparably changed by the horrors of the Victorian Bushfires. The thoroughbred industry answered the call, quickly supporting the auctioning of five stallion nominations, knowing that all proceeds are being donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
In the final day of the auction, bidding on Australia ’s champion stallion, Encosta de Lago, stands at $260,000 after a string of generous bidders were topped by Trevor Stuckey and Penny Yan of Racing To Win fame
Ms. Deborah Ho, a breeder and purchaser of note, holds sway with Fastnet Rock after outbidding her rivals when nodding to $66,000.
Austramore and Associates, who have been multiple bidders throughout the auction, could well have their $35,000 Haradasun bid targeted. The same fate could befall Mark and Lea Owens ($20,000) and Norfolk Thoroughbreds ($7,000) who are the top bidders on Royal Academy and Spinning World respectively.
If you would like to become involved in this auction please contact Sebastian Hutch on 0423 770 854 or on sebastian@coolmore.com.au before 5pm today, Monday.
