He was the second highest priced colt by Snitzel at the 2014 yearling sales and opened his career with a stylish debut victory at Hawkesbury on Tuesday for the Chris Waller stable.
Ridden patiently by Glyn Schofield, Dinghu Mountain (pictured as a yearling) came with a late rush to snatch a neck win in the 1100 metre maiden.
A $725,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Kitchwin Hills for Waller stable client Mr C Lai, Dinghu Mountain is a half-brother to stakes-placed Bright Heart.
Bred by Black Caviar’s part-owner Neil Werrett, he is the third winner for Layette, a Thunder Gulch (USA) half-sister to Group I placed Kimillsy and Group III placed Delyara from stakes-winner Lady Fidelia.
Dinghu Mountain has an interesting 3 x 3 double cross of Snippets, so you would expect him to put a win on the board at two.
He is the 19th Australian two year-old winner this season for Arrowfield Stud’s Snitzel, who will cover a full book at a fee of $88,000.
