Managing Director Mark Webster of Inglis this afternoon announced that the online stallion nominations auction to raise funds for equine victims of the Victorian Bushfires and Queensland floods has raised an amazing $130,261.
The online auction held in conjunction with Project Hope Horse Welfare Victoria (PHHWV) commenced on April 20 with 251 donated stallion nominations from at least 24 different horse breeds in a united effort from the equine industry to support their own community in troubled times.
“This is an outstanding result and will hopefully make a difference to horse owners who are still in need following the terrible bushfires and floods. More than 600 people registered as bidders for the online auction with 4000 online bids received over the five day period. The online auction website was built by my team here at Inglis specifically for this fundraising event and I’m pleased to say the technology worked perfectly. NSW based volunteers Tristan Bryan of Meridian Estate Warmblood Stud and Heather Studdy of Yatama Stud should also be congratulated for coming up with the idea for the auction and for doing all the administrative work behind the scenes,” commented Mark Webster.
Tristan Bryan and Heather Studdy added further comment, “Our sincere thanks all those stallion owners and agents who generously donated services for such a worthy cause. Sandy Morphett from Eques Online Horse Magazine and Spiderweb deserve special recognition for donating their time and services. It has astounded us both how a small idea mentioned on the Eques Forum could have grown to be the largest Online Stallion Service Auction to have ever been held in Australia. It was a first to have used this sort of technology for the auctioning of stallion services, which are normally done via tender, this has enabled stallions situated in Australia to be viewed World Wide in addition to International stallion’s services being offered. Deane Jacobs from Inglis did a great job building the auction website. It has made us both proud to see the Equine community pulling together to help those affected by the devastation.”
