Outstanding Result at HTBA Scone Sale

With a huge crowd in attendance, today's 60th annual HTBA Inglis Scone Yearling Sale defied the downward trend of other yearling sales to post figures closely resembling those of 12 months ago.

In all, 164 lots sold at a clearance rate of 87% for a gross result of $2,137,500 at an average of $13,034.

This compares favourably to the $2.151million that was traded 12 months ago.

Broad Crossing's Choisir colt from Strawberry Mim topped today's proceedings, with leading trainer Paul Perry securing him for $68,000.

Murulla Stud's Tale Of The Cat colt from Tequila Knowledge was also keenly sought after, going to Attunga Stud for $50,000.

"We are thrilled with the result achieved today and it is very pleasing to see that vendors selling at the lower end of the market can still achieve a good result, despite the current climate," Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.

"Just like the recent Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale, Scone has managed to keep pace with similar results to those of last year.

"We had a huge crowd in attendance today and moving the sale to this date, rather than the Sunday, has been a good move. We had a number of metropolitan trainers at the sale because they are here for the Scone Cup tomorrow and that helped create stronger competition across the board."

Horses passed in today are still available for sale via the Make an Offer service.

The next Inglis Sale begins on Monday, with the first of four sessions at the Melbourne Great Southern Sale beginning from 12 noon.
