CONNECTIONS of Inglis Scone Guineas hopeful Speediness have shown plenty of faith in their horse after knocking back whopping offers from Hong Kong.
Colin Scott's lightly-raced galloper caught the attention of many Sydney punters with his brilliant second behind Pimpala Secret in the Hawkesbury Guineas but he was already on the radar of several big-spending clients in Asia.
"After his win at Sandown, [jockey] Craig Williams was in Hong Kong and got asked if there were any up-and-coming horses he had ridden that he thought would be suitable for Hong Kong," Scott said.
"We have had a few offers, the first around $650,000 and a few higher than that.
"The guys that are in the horse aren't millionaires but they are having a ball and I said to them, 'You're not just selling the horse, you're selling the ride we're on'. They decided they wanted to keep the horse, and here we are."
Speediness ($4.60) is seen as the only danger to hot favourite Sincero ($1.60) with TAB Sportsbet Fixed Odds for the three-year-old feature at Scone on Saturday.
Scott has been delighted with his progress since the Hawkesbury Guineas and indicated Speediness worked very strongly at Scone on Tuesday morning.
