Inspections are well underway at Inglis’ Oaklands complex of the 782 lots catalogued for the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. Superhero achievements on the racetrack have created a scintillating buzz around this year’s sale, including that of Fontiton, the favourite for Saturday’s $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes.
Fontiton will be out to match the feat of fellow Inglis Premier graduates Alinghi and Reward For Effort which were both triumphant against the best of their generation in the Blue Diamond.
The Robert Smerdon trained filly will jump from barrier one in the Group 1 juvenile event at Caulfield, carrying the dreams of all her owners including Vasko Ognenovski, who won his 10% share through the Herald Sun / Inglis Win a Share in a Racehorse Competition last year.
Over 32,000 entries have already been received for this year’s competition, for which the yearling will be hand-picked by Champion trainer Darren Weir, who has no easy task ahead of him.

In excess of 1800 entries were received for this year’s sale, ensuring a busy selection schedule last spring for the Inglis bloodstock team before each of the Inglis Premier yearlings began their sale preparation in the summer months.
“Premier has a proven record for unearthing champions in Australia, Hong Kong and South Africa, and with the outstanding quality presented by vendors here this week, I have no doubt that success will continue,” said Peter Heagney, Inglis’ Melbourne Bloodstock Director.
“The next eight days promises to be a feast of first-class action for all thoroughbred enthusiasts, with the region’s tremendous racing and breeding on show here in Melbourne,” added Heagney.
