Melbourne trainer Ciaron Maher has provided an update on the progress of boom filly Petits Filous (Street Boss-Excellent Lady, by Exceed and Excel) who makes her Group 1 debut in tomorrow night's Moir Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley.
The brilliant 3YO, who is unbeaten in four starts to date, will be ridden by proven big race jockey Glen Boss who sat on her for the first time in a track gallop at Caulfield yesterday morning.
"He [Boss] rode her yesterday morning. She didn't have to do a lot. She just bowled around and did a nice piece of work over half a mile. He said he liked how she felt," Maher told Melbourne's Radio Sport National yesterday.
"She came through the gallop in good order. She's drawn nicely in barrier five, so hopefully she can get a good run and continue on her winning way."
He added: "She's a horse that just continues to improve. She's been up and racing for a little while but she's had little breaks and good spaces between her races, and she seems in good order. I'm quite happy with her."
Petits Filous' task on Friday night was made significantly easier when Joe Pride decided to leave star sprinter Terravista at home in Sydney for the Group 2 Premiere Stakes on Saturday, but she will still have to be top class to overcome a field that includes Group 1 winning sprinters Buffering, Flamberge, and fellow high-class filly Fontiton.
