Plenty To Love About Sydney Classic Sale

Much loved galloper Howmuchdoyouloveme took his racetrack earnings past one hundred times his yearling sale purchase price on Saturday when winning the Group 3 W.J. Healey Stakes at Eagle Farm.

Howmuchdoyouloveme ($5,000 2010 Classic, 4g Written Tycoon-Betula Belle) is a prime example of the great value prospects that reward buyers from the Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale.

Jumping from the outside barrier the tough sprinter shot straight to the front under jockey Nash Rawiller and skipped away to a two length lead heading into the straight. River Lad strode up outside Howmuchdoyouloveme at the 200m, but the tenacious four-year-old dug deep to fight back to a narrow victory under his 60kg impost.

“He travelled well in front and I thought on the turn that he would be hard to beat. He was in a bit of trouble for a moment there, but he really kicked back hard and did a good job to win,” said Rawiller.

The win took Howmuchdoyouloveme’s career racetrack earnings to $538,645, over one hundred times the $5,000 paid for him from the draft of Red Gums Stud at the 2010 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale.

The Tina Cotsiopoulos trained son of Written Tycoon has won seven of his 13 career starts to date including the G2 MRC Caulfield Sprint, LR Grafton Ramornie Hcp and LR BRC Lightning Stakes, prior to today’s victory.

“I'm so happy with that win. He is such a good horse and I knew he was on his game today when he was up on his toes in the mounting yard,” Cotsiopoulos said.

“I will have a talk to the connections, but we'll probably go to Grafton for the Ramornie now,” added Cotsiopoulos.

Buyers are provided one last opportunity to pick up a top value prospect from the 2013 Inglis Select Yearling Sale Series with the inaugural Winter Book of the Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale to be held at Newmarket tomorrow, Sunday 23 June 2013.

219 yearlings have been catalogued for the Winter Book including five by Dane Shadow, the sire of today’s Brisbane Group 1 winner Red Tracer.

Other sires represented in tomorrow’s sale that recorded metropolitan winners around Australia on Saturday include Northern Meteor, Choisir, Lonhro, Stratum, Commands, Churchill Downs, Casino Prince, Bradbury’s Luck, Rock Of Gibraltar and Snitzel.

All horses sold at the Winter Book are eligible for entry into the $5 million Inglis Race Series. Only those offered at the Summer or Winter Books of the Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sales are eligible for the $250,000 Inglis Classic race for two-year-olds held at Rosehill in January 2014 as part of the series.

The catalogue for the 2013 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale Winter Book is available online at www.inglis.com.au and on the Inglis Sales iPad app.

The sale will be broadcast live on InglisTV from 10:15am tomorrow, with Online Bidding and Make-An-Offer services available for those buyers unable to attend the Newmarket complex.
