High profile Darley shuttler Shamardal (USA) has had a comparatively quiet start to the Australian racing season, siring his first stakes-winner for 2011/2012 at Ascot on Saturday when Premardal captured the Listed WATC Jungle Dawn Classic.

The Todd Harvey trained mare made it back to back wins in the race, lugging her top weight of 58.5 kg to win the 1400 metre sprint by the best part of a length.

A $135,000 purchase from the Swettenham Stud draft at the 2008 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, Premardal has won five races and placed five times from 22 starts earning $288,550 in prizemoney.

Bred by Darley, Premardal (pictured as a yearling) is one of three winners from Prestigious (USA), a three-quarter sister by Rainbow Quest to Group I winning sires Arazi and Noverre.

Darley still own Prestigious, who has a two year-old full sister to Premardal called Flattery and produced a colt foal by Denman this spring.

Premardal is one of 33 stakes-winners worldwide for Shamardal, who has yearlings at the Australasian sales next year including two fillies at Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale in January.
