14th Feb 2005
The 2005 Premier Yearling Sale broke all previous records with 380 yearlings generating turnover of $22.3 million, making it the highest grossing sale of bloodstock ever held in Victoria.
Depth of talent at the top end of the market made all the difference, with 52 yearlings selling for $100,000 or better, a significant jump on last year when 33 yearlings cracked the $100,000 barrier.
Encosta de Lago accounted for 16 of the $100,000 plus sellers and Redoute’s Choice for three, but the remainder were spread evenly among the following sires: Bianconi (USA), Canny Lad, Commands, Danehill Dancer (IRE), Danewin, Danzero, Diatribe, Distant Music (IRE), Fantastic Light (USA), Fasliyev (USA), Fusaichi Pegasus (USA), Galileo (IRE), General Nediym, Grand Lodge (USA), King Cugat (USA), Langfuhr (Can), Octagonal, Pins, Postponed (USA), Royal Academy (USA), Rubiton, Scenic (USA), Show a Heart and Testa Rossa.
An outstanding clearance rate of 85% is additional testament to the surging popularity of this great sale, which has been on a sharp upswing in recent years. The aggregate figure has very nearly doubled since 2002 when 311 yearlings grossed $11.4 million.
William Inglis and Son wish to congratulate all of our vendors and thank the many buyers who helped to make the 2005 Premier Yearling Sale such a resounding success.
