Premier 3YO's Star at the Valley

Black Caviar lived up to the long odds-on price tag when easily adding to her imposing record, before impressive Elvstroem colt Carrara made it a stakes double for 2008 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale graduates at Moonee Valley today.

BLACK CAVIAR ($210,000 2008 Premier, 3f Bel Esprit-Helsinge) carried a huge boom into her three-year-old debut, having won her only two starts by a combined 11 lengths.

She stretched that to almost 15 lengths when winning the Listed Arrow Training Services Plate (1200m) by just under four lengths in effortless style.

The filly was bred by Rick Jamieson from the well-related Desert Sun mare Helsinge and offered for sale by Swettenham Stud, where she was snapped up by Peter Moody.

Helsinge is a daughter of the G1 placed, G2 winning Snippets mare Scandinavia, which makes her a half-relation to Group 1 winner Magnus and G2 winner Wilander.

The mare was secured by Peter Ford Thoroughbreds on behalf of Jamieson for $115,000 at the 2005 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale and she has proven an outstanding investment.

Helsinge's Bel Esprit full-brother to Black Caviar sold for $75,000 at this year's Melbourne Premier Sale.

CARRARA ($200,000 2008 Premier, 3c Elvstroem-Crystal Sprite) also justified his skinny price when proving too classy in the Listed Essendon Nissan Stakes (1200m).

The Tony Vasil trained youngster, a graduate of Little Plains Stud, became the first stakes winner for his illustrious sire Elvstroem when winning at Doomben earlier this year.

Fittingly, he carries the same colours as Elvstroem, having been snapped up by the Arch Of Gold Syndicate at Oaklands last year.

Carrara's dam Crystal Sprite (Hurricane Sky) was a winner of two races and is a three-quarter-sister to the Listed winning, G2 placed Crystal Finale.

The pair headed up a big day for Inglis graduates at the Valley, where winners also included $8000 Weanling purchase Belleza Veloz and $300,000 Easter graduate La Rocket.
