Premier Weekend Upon Us

Acceptances are through for this Saturday’s $250,000 Inglis Premier (1200m) race, ahead of the 2009 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, which begins from 11am this Sunday.

The Premier has had an outstanding season with its two-year-old graduates, highlighted by G1 $1M Blue Diamond winner Reward For Effort (Exceed And Excel) and multiple stakes winning filly Rostova (Testa Rossa).

Those two weren’t among acceptors for Saturday’s event, but a classy field will line up nonetheless, headed by another Exceed And Excel stakes winner in Exceedingly French, Elvstroem’s breakthrough winner Viking Legend and Mornington $50,000 Inglis Bonus winner Tale Of Love.

It’s then on to the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Inspections have been underway for the past few days at Oaklands, with Inglis Director Peter Heagney observing plenty of activity on the grounds, with all of the leading players from this part of the world and abroad present.

“There are a lot of good types here on the grounds and there’s been favourable comment from prospective buyers about what they have seen,” Heagney said.

“Logically, in keeping with the economic environment and every sale conducted in Australasia this year, we expect last year’s record levels to be difficult to maintain.

“But what that does mean is that there will be great opportunities for buyers, because prizemoney is sustaining its high level and in some instances improving.

“And as we continue to see each week on the track, Premier graduates are performing with distinction both here and overseas.”

Buyers are reminded that even if you can’t make it to Oaklands, you can still take in all the action via Inglis TV, which includes live footage from a number of different camera angles and up to the minute statistics.

TVN will also be covering the first session live on Sunday.

Furthermore, Sirecam videos for each of the yearlings in the sale are also online.

You can then bid via Inglis Online Bidding or use the post sale Make an Offer service for horses passed in through the ring. The withdrawn lots for the sale are now online and can be viewed HERE
