Price holds strong hand in Blue Diamond decs

Last year's Group I Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) winning trainer Mick Price has 16 chances of posting his second successive win in Victoria's richest two-year-old race.

Price prepared the More Than Ready filly Samaready to win the 2012 edition of the event while the Vinery Stud stallion has 12 two-year-olds still in contention for the $1million feature, which will be held at Caulfield on February 23.

Euroa-based trainer David Hayes kept 19 youngsters among the Blue Diamond declarations to have the most horses eligible for the Melbourne Racing Club showpiece.

Hayes, who has won the Blue Diamond Stakes five times, has nominated three progeny of champion stallion Fastnet Rock for the event.

Champion Melbourne trainer Peter Moody has 12 youngsters among the second declarations for the Blue Diamond Stakes.
