Keen competition for racehorses highlighted the two day Inglis Great Southern Bloodstock Sale, which concluded in Melbourne today.
In all, $1,887,700 was traded on 328 horses during the Bloodstock Section, bringing the four day sale total to almost $5million including the Weanlings sold on Days 1 and 2.
The Bloodstock section was topped by Group 1 Australian Guineas winning stallion Delago Brom, which sold to Korean interests for $80,000.
Online bidding featured strongly at the sale, with 49 horses sold among more than 600 online bids.
Inglis Director Peter Heagney said results out of the Racehorse section of the catalogue was a clear highlight of the sale.
“We believe the racehorse section of this sale is stronger than any sale in Australia,” Heagney said.
“It cleared nearly 90 per cent today and there was good competition on most horses.
“With regards to the broodmare section, it followed the trend of all other sales this year, where the lower end of the market is a little soft. But there was good interest in the better credentialed mares.”
Horses passed in over the four days of the Great Southern Sale are still available for sale via the Make an Offer service.
Attention now turns to the Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale, to be held in Sydney from June 22 to 24.
