Rainbow To Shine At Night

Racing And Sports - Tuesday, 27 September 2011

Exciting galloper Chase The Rainbow will line up in Friday night's Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley.

The grey (pictured as yearling) was scratched from last weekend's Guineas Prelude at Caulfield and trainer Rick Hore-Lacy felt he was vindicated in more ways than one.

A number of trainers expressed concerns how their horses pulled up after running on the firm track, upgraded to a Good (2) after a few races.

And he also doesn't believe Chase The Rainbow would have beaten impressive winner Helmet, who coasted home to score with his ears pricked.

Hore-Lacy will now run in Friday's nights 1600m three-year-old feature hoping he can measure up and progress to the Caulfield Guineas at his next run.

“He's a very promising horse. If you look at his run at Flemington he just motored past some good horses and there aren't many who can run sectionals like that,” Hore-Lacy said.

“I scratched him last weekend because he's won two races on the Geelong synthetic and I didn't want to risk him on a good (2) which was like concrete.

“The mile at Moonee Valley will suit him. Peter Moody's (Moment Of Change) is a good horse but the race won't be any harder that last Saturdays.”

Chase The Rainbow is an $11.00 chance with TAB Sportsbet to win the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas on Saturday week.

Moment Of Change , who will start favourite in the Stutt Stakes, is on the third line of betting at $5.50.

Prelude winner Helmet and unlucky Sir Rupert Clarke runner Smart Missile are joint favourites at $3.40.

Meanwhile Hore-Lacy has ruled out the Cox Plate for Sir Rupert Clarke winner Toorak Toff and will aim at three 1600m races for the remainder of the spring, hoping to further improve his stud value.

Hore-Lacy said the entire would next run in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap, followed by the Group 2 Waterford Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day and the Group 1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington at the tail-end of Cup week.
