Ranvet Bolter and Slipper Contender

Zavite again proved himself one of the most hardy stayers in training, while the much more youthful Elite Falls announced herself as a genuine Golden Slipper winner in a triumphant Reisling Slipper Trial win.

After Sepoy was beaten in the Todman Trial a race earlier, ELITE FALLS ($300,000 2010 Easter, 2f More Than Ready-Niagara Falls) made the Golden Slipper picture even more intriguing when winning the Group 2 Reisling.

The John O’Shea trained filly had played second fiddle to SATIN SHOES ($700,000 Easter, 2f Flying Spur-Star Satire) in two previous stakes runs this campaign, but turned the tables today.

Elite Falls won the Inglis Banner during the spring (a race also won by Starspangledbanner) and has continued to improve at each run since.

She now rates among the top Golden Slipper hopes and her win also put the focus on a sibling to be offered at next month’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Turangga Farm will offer a Haradasun half-sister to Elite Falls as LOT 373 at Easter.

The bay filly is from the multiple stakes winning Danehill mare Niagara Falls and is a grand daughter of the Group 2 winning Sir Tristram mare Bracken Bank. Niagara Falls is the dam of two winners from as many to race.

ZAVITE ($80,000 2004 Easter, 8g Zabeel-Miss Vita) took his earnings to $2.36million when scoring a stunning 100-1 upset in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes.

It was the 11th career win for the Anthony Cummings trained veteran and his first Group 1 success on Australian soil, having won the 2010 G1 Auckland Cup in New Zealand.

Zavite was clearly headed by Caulfield Cup winner Descarado, but under the big race specialist Glen Boss, fought back valiantly to worry his younger rival out of the major prize.

The son of Zabeel broke his maiden status at Mornington way back in 2006 and has been a consistent performer ever since.

The marvellous Zabeel has 7 LOT catalogued for Easter this year.

Overnight, GOLDEN ARCHER ($80,000 2010 Easter, 2c Rock Of Gibraltar-Viennetta) landed his fifth win in five starts and third consecutive stakes win when a mile too good in the Listed St Albans Stakes.

Sefton Park will offer a More Than Ready half sister to Golden Archer as LOT 108 at Easter.
