Record Digital Sale sees online platform expand to bimonthly

The Inglis Digital Online Auctions will move to a bimonthly schedule effective immediately following successive record sales.

In a stunning July auction completed last night, a southern hemisphere record gross for an Online Thoroughbred Auction was achieved, with $2,246,300 traded.

The sale gross eclipsed the previous record of $1,751,650 set at the June auction.

Stakes-winning filly Kinky Boom (Spirit of Boom) and O’Reilly mare Guelder – in foal to Zoustar – were equal sale toppers, selling for $150,000 each.

Sheamus Mills Bloodstock bought Kinky Boom (pictured) from McEvoy Mitchell Racing while Greenhaven Park Stud was the winning bidder on the Musk Creek Farm-offered Guelder.

Other significant lots included:

*Vici (I Am Invincible), which won by 7 lengths at Canberra a week ago, was purchased by Darranda from Belinda Bateman for $85,000

*Atomic Kitten (Northern Meteor) sold in foal to Dissident for $75,000 to BRT Bloodstock/Paul Willetts Consultancy/Brent Cheyne, having been offered by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds

*3YO filly Be Brilliant (Exceed And Excel) realised $70,000 for vendor Shane Nichols Racing, selling to Gleneagles Stud.

In total, two horses sold for $100,000 or more and seven for $60,000 or more.

This brings to 91 the number of sales for $50,000 or more since 2018.

Other buyers included the likes of James Bester, Rupert Legh, Mitchell Bloodstock and Brae Sokolski while other vendors who again supported the sale included the likes of Yulong Investments, Lauriston Thoroughbreds, Debbie Kepitis, Musk Creek Farm, Freedman Racing, Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, Lindsay Park and Patrick Payne among many others.

Based off recent successes, overall demand and significant client feedback, the Inglis Digital Online Auctions will now occur twice per month.

“The support we continue to receive from vendors from all around Australia is phenomenal and the feeling among our client base is that there is absolutely sufficient demand to go twice per month with these online auctions,’’ Inglis Digital’s Business Manager Nick Melmeth said.

“The growth we have seen in the past 12 months especially has been astronomical and we look forward to supplying the market with even more quality.

“To gross in excess of $2m for the first time is fantastic for our vendors.

“This sale continues to provide quality for a wide range of budgets and the ease of the process is certainly appealing to our clients.’’
