Records Smashed At Premier Yearling Sale

The momentum continued at today’s session of the 2005 Premier Yearling Sale with a super clearance rate of 85% and an overall average price of $59,011, up 21% on last year and gross sales totaling $22,247,500, up 22% .
Reg Inglis Managing Director was thrilled with overall proceedings.
“Vendors are to be congratulated on the success of this sale and the presentation of yearlings. The results prove that Victoria has now come of age and there is no glass ceiling as far as prices achieved is concerned,” commented Reg.
Peter Heagney Melbourne Manager and Associate Director was equally impressed with the results of the sale.
“I was inundated with compliments from buyers from throughout Australia on the quality of horses at this sale and the results certainly indicate this. I would also like to thank vendors for supporting the sale and join with Reg in congratulating them on the fine presentation of all yearlings. With the support of Racing Victoria Ltd and TROA, the Victorian Thoroughbred Industry is in very good shape and the unveiling of the new ownership strategy has been a timely boost for this sale, ” said a delighted Heagney.
The top price for today’s session was lot 323, a Redoute’s Choice x Opulence (GB) colt offered by Riverslea Farm and purchased by Graeme Rogerson Bloodstock for $320,000. The overall top priced yearling remained with lot 58, sold for $480,000 in yesterday’s opening session.
