It was second time lucky in the Inglis Race Series today for Red Excitement, with the youngster taking home a $50,000 cheque thanks to Inglis for winning the Lightning Ridge 2YO Plate at Canberra.
Red Excitement ($32,500 2011 Classic, 2c Excites-Red Obsession) was only beaten 1.2 lengths by Diamond Earth in the Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley in October, and given time to mature over the summer by trainer Neville Layt the colt has repaid her owners Glenn and Viive Williams very handsomely today when leading home fellow Inglis yearling sale buys Diamond Player and Risky Blonde.
Connections of Red Excitement take home $63,000 today when adding the $50,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus to the $13,000 first prizemoney.
The son of Excites is likely to be aimed at the Listed Canberra Black Opal Stakes on March 11 by Layt.
Layt and the Williams’ have been great supporters of the Inglis Race Series, especially after winning a $100,000 Inglis Race Series Bonus with One More Grand at Rosehill back in July 2010.
The Inglis Race Series moves to Bendigo in Victoria next month with a $50,000 bonus available to the winner of the 1400m Bendigo Guineas for three-year-olds should it be paid up into the lucrative Inglis Race Series.
