Replacement filly snares $50,000 bonus

Exciting filly Leviosa gave Port Macquarie trainer Jenny Graham and her owners another big Inglis Race Series pay day when proving far too good in the NBN Inglis Bonus 2YO Plate at Grafton today.

LEVIOSA ($14,000 2010 Scone, 2f Magic Albert-Seena Baleena) had won her only two starts on wet ground at Port Macquarie, but the firm surface at Grafton made no difference, as she raced away to win easily, despite racing wide throughout.

The 2010 Scone sale proved a bountiful hunting ground for Graham, who also purchased $100,000 Scone Challenge winner Alcancia out of the sale for a mere $6500.

Leviosa, now the winner of $100,000 thanks to today's windfall, was secured out of the Yarraman Park draft by Graham as a replacement horse for the big team of owners.

The same syndicate raced Unworry (another Scone purchase for Graham), who sadly broke a leg after winning two of her six starts.

Unworry picked up two BOBS bonuses and the money from those were rolled over to fund the purchase of Leviosa.

Winning rider Robert Thompson tipped a bright future for the Magic Albert filly.

“I know she had won twice on the heavy, but I knew she would explode on top of the ground and that’s what she did,” he said.

Graham is now likely to set Leviosa for the $100,000 Inglis race series bonus race at Rosehill on July 30.

Last year’s Grafton Bonus Plate was won by Liesele, with subsequent Stradbroke winner Sincero finishing second.
