Star Ripper made it three wins on end when scoring a strong win over 2400m on the Kensington track and he will now be given the chance to emulate his illustrious dam Dane Ripper in stakes company.
The four-year-old son of Encosta De Lago went winless in his first eight starts, but a gelding operation has done the trick and today's win came after big winning margins at Hawkesbury and Warwick Farm.
The Bart Cummings trained galloper was secured out of the Coolmore Stud draft at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $400,000.
Cummings rates him a promising stayer in the making and black type races now beckon.
Star Ripper is one of three individual winners for Dane Ripper, with the others being Cosmo Merveille (Fasliyev) and the stakes placed Switchblade (Fusaichi Pegasus).
Dane Ripper is a Danehill daughter of the G1 winner Red Express (Sovereign Red).
A stakes winner from two to five years of age, Dane Ripper won 12 races from 29 starts and more than $3.1million in prizemoney.
She remains Danehill's lone Cox Plate winner, with her other G1 wins coming in the QTC Stradbroke Handicap, VRC Australian Cup and MVRC Manikato Stakes.
Since Star Ripper, she has produced the Encosta De Lago colt Wartorn (now an unraced 3yo) and a yearling filly by Fusaichi Pegasus.
She was covered in 2009 by first season Coolmore stallion Henrythenavigator.
