Risdon Broodmare Band Dispersal

9th Jun 2008

This month’s William Inglis Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale will now feature a dispersal of more than 30 mares from Sue Suduk’s star-studded Risdon broodmare band.

The mares will be offered for Unreserved Sale on Sunday June 29 and will be lotted as a separate supplementary catalogue.

This means the AWBS sale now features two high profile dispersals, following the earlier announcement of Tyreel’s Reduction, which will be held immediately prior to the Risdon mares.

Suduk’s broodmare band features both pedigree and performance, with a number of the mares being offered in foal to some of Australia’s best stallions.

“This is one of the best private bands of mares in Australia,” Consignor Philippa Duncan said.

Highlights include Group 1 winner and Group 1 producer SHINDIG, who is in foal to leading first season stallion Exceed And Excel, and her stakes placed daughter Fiammarosa in foal to Fusaichi Pegasus.

The group also boasts a number of mares descending from wonder mare Eight Carat.

These include the multiple Group winning sprinter, PERUZZI, who is in foal to Fusaichi Pegasus, and her two daughters by Danehill, triple G1 placed Flora Danica and Nivison Stakes winner, LUCIDA.

“The Eight Carat family is known the world over and ranks as arguably the greatest family in the Southern Hemisphere. This represents a rare opportunity to tap into it,” Duncan said.

The Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale will be held at Newmarket in Sydney on June 26, 27 and 29.
