Easter graduates in Melbourne. Classic stars in Sydney. That was the story from Warwick Farm as Manawanui and Pane In The Glass – purchased for a pittance at a combined $77,000 - made superb returns to racing at Warwick Farm today.
Ron Leemon has a host of options open to him after his highly promising three-year-old Manawanui made a stunning return to racing in the Group 3 Up & Coming Stakes.
MANAWANUI ($45,000 2010 Classic, 3g Oratorio-Lady Remlap), a graduate of Goodwood Farm, had shown potential with two wins in three starts in lesser grade at two, but had no trouble stepping up to stakes company here, running right up to his recent 10 length barrier trial romp when winning by more than four lengths.
Connections now have to weigh up whether to part with $50,000 to run in the Group 1 Golden Rose, but long term, Leemon has the Spring Champion Stakes and Caulfield Guineas as options this campaign.
"It's been a long time since I've had a good horse," he said.
"He'll have a very easy week now and we'll weigh up our options."
PANE IN THE GLASS ($32,000 2010 Classic, 3f Testa Rossa-Lyrics) was a major beneficiary of the Inglis Race Series last season before measuring up to Group 1 grade when second in the Champagne Stakes.
Patinack Farm had already collected $550,000 from her two-year-old feats and there is much more to come going by her strong victory in the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes.
Pane In The Glass, who completed the big fillies double for Patinack after the Moonee Valley win by Kneeling, will now continue through the Princess Series on the way to the Group 1 Flight Stakes, which was last year won by fellow Classic graduate Secret Admirer.
The Grahame Begg trained Secret Admirer made a superb return to racing in the Toy Show Quality today and looks poised to build further on her promising record.
