Rod Northam wants to train more two-year-olds and after providing the best advertisement for it has already targeted the lucrative Scone Guineas next year.

The Upper Hunter horseman prepared his fourth winner in six years when $6000 yearling Sargent Doakes (I Am Invincible x Momoco) claimed the $100,000 Inglis Challenge on the opening day of the Scone carnival on Friday.

"The long-term plan would be to bring him back next year and run in the three-year-old race ($400,000 Inglis Scone Guineas), but we'll just take him through his grades now," Northam said.

"I think he's looking for 1200 [metres] and I think he's a big track horse and they'll probably benchmark him that high he'll have to run in a Saturday race."

Northam had previously won the Inglis Challenge with Okane (2010), Tinszelda (2012) and Voodoo Lad (2014).
