A confident ride by Glen Boss saw the heavily backed Sainthood capture Friday's $130,000 Listed Wagga Gold Cup (2000m).

Trained and part-owned by Rick Worthington, Sainthood (Lonhro x Bonne Famille (Anabaa (USA)) hit the line strongly under minimum urging from Boss to defeat Barlagarney (Danehill) by 1 1/4-lengths with two lengths to Twin Wing (Istidaad) in third.

It moves the 4yo geldings record to 4 wins 3 seconds and 1 third from 15 starts for earnings of $224,580.

It was the second stakes success for Sainthood who claimed the Listed National Sprint at Canberra on March 7.

A $150,000 purchase from the Woodlands Stud draft at the 2007 Inglis Premier Yearling sale, Sainthood is the first foal of the Sydney winning Anabaa mare Bonne Famille who is out of a half-sister to multiple Group 2 winner Stage Hit (Century), the dam of Phar Lap Stakes (G2) winner and three-time Group 1 runner-up Encores (Marscay) as well as Bloodhorse Breeders Plate (G2) winner Irradiate (Rassendyll) and the Listed winner and useful stallion Sir Laurence (Bletchingly).

Another of Stage Hit's daughters, the stakes-placed Preview (Kenmare), is the dam of VRC Sires' Produce Stakes (G1) winner Pillaging.

Bonne Famille was bred to Lonhro in her first four seasons. She has a 2yo filly and a yearling colt but missed to Dubawi (IRE) in 2008 and was covered by Hussonet (USA) last year.
