Samaready waltz’s into Blue Diamond favouritism

Mick Price trained filly Samaready has waltzed to the top of the market for the $1million Group One MRC Blue Diamond Stakes after a scintillating performance in the Group Three MRC Blue Diamond Prelude for fillies over 1100m at Caulfield this afternoon.

Out well from barrier nine Samaready ($150,000 2011 Easter, 2f More Than Ready-Samar) camped behind the leaders in the $125,000 event, was eased into clear galloping room turning into the straight and when given more rein at the 200m quickened like a top class galloper to sprint away to an easing three length victory over Formidable and Sweetener in 1:03.38, almost a second quicker than the colts division the race before.

“Nothing like raceday to sort out the blah blah in this game is it”, said trainer Mick Price after the win.

“Everything points to a strong 1200m for her and there should be some improvement heading into the Blue Diamond”, Price added.

Bookmakers around the country have been very quick to slash price of the daughter of More Than Ready for the Blue Diamond on February 25. TAB Sportsbet has Samaready as clear cut favourite at $2.80.

Samaready was sold by Vinery Stud at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $150,000 to Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock on behalf of the ecstatic group of owners now racing her, Vinery Stud (Mgr:P Orton), Greenwich Stud (Mgr:G Perry), Echo Beach Bloodstock (Mgr:A Green), Newstead (Mgr:N Gibson) and Encompass Bloodstock (Mgr:S McCann).

Vinery Stud’s champion stallion More Than Ready is also the sire of Gai Waterhouse’s Golden Slipper favourite Raceway, who was also selected out of last year’s Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $150,000.

There are 30 yearlings by More Than Ready heading to this year’s Easter Sale in Sydney on April 10 to 12 and four to the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale on February 27 to March 1.

Vinery Stud also have strong drafts catalogued for both Melbourne (9 lots) and Easter (13 lots).
