It was a case of third time lucky for Queanbeyan trainer Neville Layt and his team of owners after One More Grand capped a wonderful season for Scone graduates in securing the Rosebud Inglis Bonus at Rosehill today.
ONE MORE GRAND ($35,000 2009 Scone, 2c Snitzel-Lambada Lady) scooped the pool in the 1200m feature, picking up a $100,000 Inglis Race Series bonus, in addition to the $42,000 first prize and $20,000 BOBS Bonus.
The colt had missed the placings in two previous Inglis bonus races this season, but fought on doggedly to land the major end of the prize today. He is proving a wonderful investment, with his earnings now approaching the $250,000 mark.
He was offered for sale by Bellerive Stud and secured by Layt.
He joins the $770,000 Inglis Guineas winner Star Of Octagonal as Scone graduates to pick up big prizes as part of the $2.6million Race Series this season.
Scone graduates have enjoyed a bumper year to date, headed by dual Group 1 winner Hot Danish and Patinack Farm’s filly Small Minds, who also won at the highest level.
The next opportunity for 2009 graduates to win a race series bonus comes up at Seymour on August 29.
Buyers can tap into more Hunter Valley jewels at the upcoming Scone Broodmare Sale to be held at White Park on August 27.
