Scone Broodmare Entries Closing

Entries for next month’s Scone Broodmare Sale close this Friday, July 17.

The sale will be held at White Park, Scone on Friday August 28, coinciding with a number of the stallion open days in the Hunter Valley that weekend.

The inaugural Scone Broodmare Sale was held in 2007 and it attracted strong support from both buyers and vendors, with a clearance rate of 82.5% with strong competition through all levels of bloodstock, highlighted by $110,000 for the well-performed Orpen mare Zenarta.

The trend continued last year, with the sale gross building by 50% to almost $1million – including mares by Tayasu Tsuyoshi, Fusaichi Pegasus and Quest For Fame that topped the $70,000 mark - while maintaining the excellent 82% clearance rate.

“We have been very pleased with the way this sale has been embraced by clients in its two years to date,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.

“The timing just prior to the commencement of the new breeding season makes it a perfect opportunity to trade horses at a time when many of the leading industry players are in the Hunter Valley for the annual stallion parade days.”

This has been highlighted by the strong buying bench in both years to date, with buyers from Hong Kong, South Africa and the Philippines in the inaugural year, backed up by a strong domestic buying bench from right around Australia in 2008.
