Scone Broodmare Supplementaries Closing

Vendors are reminded that supplementary entries for next week’s Inglis Scone Broodmare Sale close at noon this Friday, August 21.

The one-day Scone Broodmare Sale will be held at White Park, Scone, next Friday, August 28, with selling scheduled to begin at 12 noon.

The sale falls on the same weekend as a number of the Stallion Open days at Hunter Valley farms and is sure to be strongly attended by breeders in the district for those parades.

The timing of the sale also presents a great opportunity to trade bloodstock on the dawn of the new breeding season.

In just two years, the sale has quickly built an important place on the calendar.

A strong inaugural sale in 2007, where the sale topper made $110,000, was further built on last year when the gross grew by 50%.

Another strong catalogue has been put together this year, with mares by Australia’s Champion Sires of the past four seasons - Encosta De Lago, Flying Spur and Redoute’s Choice, in addition to a host of other top stallions, including Zabeel, Red Ransom, Galileo and the outstanding Broodmare sire Last Tycoon.

The catalogue also includes mares in foal to leading first season stallions like Charge Forward, Fastnet Rock and Not A Single Doubt, hot prospects like Golden Slipper winner Stratum and European star Holy Roman Emperor and proven stallions including Spinning World and Testa Rossa.
