While show horses are still hibernating in warm winter rugs, it’s time for judges to brush up their skills.
Equestrian Victoria’s annual show horse judges seminar will be held at the Inglis Sales Complex at Oaklands on Saturday, catering for senior judges and those hoping to progress to that level.
Among topics to be discussed are conflict resolution, occupational health and safety and “what if” scenarios.
Greg Gerry will discuss show pony types and David Ross the finer points of the show hunter.
Conformation and soundness will be addressed by Dr Rohan Luxmore.
A panel comprising Peter Heagney, Greg Gerry and David Ross will discuss thoroughbred types, concentrating on what makes a good racehorse or show horse.
Helen Heagney will cover correct movement in show horses.
A tour of the Inglis sales complex is optional during the lunch break, taking in sale day procedure, scoping and pregnancy testing facilities, repository (X-ray room) and auditorium.
For further information contact Helen Heagney on 0419 342089 or Mitch Fox on 0448 142306.
