Serious Speed Tops Toorak Park Dispersal at $900K

Group 1 winner Serious Speed was sold to Patinack Farm for $900,000 as the outstanding draft of mares from Toorak Park Stud grossed $3.8million on the opening day of the Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale in Sydney today.

Serious Speed, a daughter of Royal Academy, was an outstanding filly, winning the Group 1 MRC Thousand Guineas, along with the Group 2 STC Hobartville Stakes and G3 Gerard Corporation Stakes.

She retired to stud last year with earnings just shy of $1million and was sold in foal to Al Maher, sire of Saturday’s brilliant G3 Adrian Knox winner Speedy Natalie.

Other Toorak highlights included the outstanding Dehere producer Picholine, dam of Victoria Derby and South Australian Derby winner Rebel Raider and G3 Norman Robinson winner Shamoline Warrior.

Adrian Hancock Quality Bloodstock secured her, in foal to Reset with a full relation to Rebel Raider, for $440,000.

Majestic Music has been another flagbearer for the Toorak Park team this season and her dam Regal Flute (Royal Academy) was knocked down to Steve Brem for $425,000, believed to be in foal to Al Maher.

Group 3 winner Flying Object was sold for $300,000, in foal to first crop stallion Northern Meteor.

In all, 39 mares were sold during the dispersal at an average of $97,717.
