Session II Graduates Shine

Graduates of the second session of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale enjoyed Group race success in two states today.

Session II was implemented for the first time in 2008 and it has been an instant success story, led by the dual Group 1 winner Faint Perfume.

Today’s winners Neeson and No Evidence Needed were both offered at the same inaugural sale as Faint Perfume.

The Joe Pride trainer NEESON (P$65,000 2008 Easter II, 4g Mossman-Favorite Actress) landed his third stakes success when proving too nippy in the Group 3 Tramway Handicap.

He had previously won at Listed level in the Darby Munro Stakes and Hawkesbury Guineas, but this was his first Group race breakthrough. Neeson is now the winner of seven races in 15 starts for earnings of $480,000.

NO EVIDENCE NEEDED ($130,000 2008 Easter II, 4m Shamardal-Generosa) knocked on the door of stakes success against the top fillies last season and was duly rewarded for her consistency when taking the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.

The Patinack Farm raced mare was offered for sale by Princes Farm, being from the former Bart Cummings trained Generous mare Generosa, who was Group 2 placed in the Light Fingers Stakes and just behind the placings in the G1 VRC Oaks.

No Evidence Needed was runner-up in the G1 Australasian Oaks and third in the G2 Kewney, but shrugged off the bridesmaid tag in beating fellow Easter II graduate Response ($50,000 2008).

Later, rising star DOUBTFUL JACK ($70,000 2007 Australian Select Weanling, 4g Not A Single Doubt-Tootsie Roll) continued his rise to stardom when dominating the Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m).

Doubtful Jack was originally offered for sale by Broadwater Farm as a weanling at Newmarket and he was secured by Greendale Pastoral. This was his fourth win on end and Group 1 targets now await.

LARGO LAD ($75,000 2006 Easter, 6g Encosta De Lago-Lady Marion) added to his solid fresh record when scoring a last gasp win in The Sofitel (1400m). The David Hayes trained gelding is on the Caulfield Cup trail.

PINKER PINKER ($120,000 2009 Premier, 3f Reset-Miss Marion) showed stakes race potential when overpowering her rivals to win the Voodoo Plate (1100m).

This race was last year won by Easter graduate Irish Lights, who later went on to win the Group 1 Thousand Guineas.
