Shamoline, Naara Aim up at VRC Classics

Having already secured the Melbourne Racing Club's Guineas double, Inglis graduates now head to Flemington with undeniable claims to clean sweep the Spring Classics, following the impressive wins by Run For Naara and Shamoline Warrior today.

Inglis graduates Starspangledbanner ($120,000 Premier) and Irish Lights ($230,000 Easter) have taken the Caulfield Guineas/Thousand Guineas double in the past week and today two outstanding 2500m VRC Classic contenders emerged.

SHAMOLINE WARRIOR ($60,000 2008 Premier, 3c Shamardal-Picholine) will be given the chance to emulate his half-brother Rebel Raider (Reset) in the G1 Victoria Derby after scoring a dominant win in today's G3 Norman Robinson Stakes.

The win followed a similarly impressive Listed win over 1800m at Flemington two weeks ago and the Mark Kavanagh trained colt is now a dominant favourite for the VRC 2500m Classic on October 31.

Bred by South Australia's Toorak Park Stud, Shamoline Warrior is from the G1 placed Dehere mare Picholine, who was sold at the 2003 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale by Macquarie Stud as agent for $160,000.

The mare's Exceed And Excel filly was sold through the Mill Park draft to Shadwell Australia for $300,000 at this year's Easter Yearling Sale.

Earlier, the Patinack Farm owned filly RUN FOR NAARA ($150,000 Easter Part II, 3f More Than Ready-Kristopher Street) announced herself as the horse to beat in next month's G1 VRC Oaks (2500m) when easily lumping 59kg to win over 2000m at Caulfield.

Like G3 Newcastle Spring Stakes winner Lovemelikearock (Fastnet Rock), Run For Naara is a wonderful advertisement for the quality yearlings found in Part II of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, which was introduced for the first time in 2008.

Run For Naara was offered for sale by Evergreen Stud Farm, as agent for Domitor Stud. The filly has already proven adept at Flemington, having won the Listed Gibson Carmichael Stakes over 1600m at the venue last season.
