She's Extremely talented and now an Oaks winner!

Fillies don’t come much more versatile than the magnificent She’s Extreme, who today added the G1 VRC Oaks to her already impressive resume with a stunning display of strength and staying power.

Like all of her rivals, the 3YO daughter of Extreme Choice was yet to be tested over the challenging 2500m journey of the Oaks and given her first win as a 2YO was in the G3 Magic Night Stakes over 1200m, it remained a mystery as to just how she would fare over the trip.

But such is her tenacity and will to win, She’s Extreme never looked like losing, a perfect ride by Tommy Berry ensuring she secured her second G1 win following her success in the Champagne Stakes in April.

She’s Extreme is bred by Aquis Farm, who offered her as a weanling in the 2020 Inglis Digital June (Late) Online Sale where she was secured by One Plus Investments for $32,500.

She was then offered through the Willow Park Stud draft at last year’s Easter Yearling Sale, where her trainer Anthony Cummings purchased her for $275,000.

She’s Extreme (pictured) races in the colours of part owners Rob and Sylvie Crabtree of Dorrington Farm, who proudly led the filly back to scale at Flemington today.

She is one of 78 G1-winning Inglis graduates since 2018 and today she led in an Inglis graduates’ G1 quinella, defeating Easter filly Pavitra.

“I’m so pleased, she’s a really nice filly with a great set of owners who have been so understanding all the way through,’’ Cummings said.

“It’s really satisfying to have a filly like this get the recognition she deserves, to win a big G1 here this week is what it’s all about.’’

Part owner Monique Annetts was in tears post-race.

“We all were, every owner, even Anthony was,’’ Annetts said.

“I can’t believe it, she’s just so brilliant. This is horse racing mecca, Flemington in Cup Week and to be winning not just an Oaks but the Victorian Oaks, it’s just huge, so special.

“While we didn’t know if she would run the 2500m, the way she came home over the 2000m in the Spring Champion at her last start, that gave us plenty of confidence that she’d run the trip out today and she was just awesome.’’

She’s Extreme will now be spelled, with her main autumn target the G1 Coolmore Classic for fillies and mares at Rosehill over 1500m.

Earlier on today’s program, Joyful Fortune continued his love affair with the Flemington straight with a comprehensive win in the Listed Century Stakes.

The Mark Newnham-trained former HK sprinter has only had three starts in Australia – he has won two of them, both down the Flemington straight, and his other run was in the $15m The Everest.

Joyful Fortune is a $100,000 Classic Yearling Sale purchase for Orbis Bloodstock, from the Fairview Park Stud draft.

From just 10 career starts, he has now won four races and earned more than $900,000 in prizemoney.
