The 2012 edition of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale is just over three weeks away and buyers were provided another sterling example of the high quality gallopers sold at the southern hemisphere’s most prestigious sale with horses purchased from past Easter Sales winning six black type races at Randwick on Saturday.
The six Easter graduates Ashokan, Jade Marauder, Maules Creek, Nobby Snip, Mosheen and Rose Of Peace swept Race Two to Seven in Sydney covering all categories contested, from two-year-old sprints, classic miles and mares events to staying races for older gallopers.
Ashokan ($810,000 2011 Easter, 2c More Than Ready-November Flight) got the Easter juggernaut rolling early, winning the Group Three ATC Skyline Stakes (1200m) for two-year-old colts and geldings over fellow Easter graduate Raceway.
The Skyline quinella are both bred on the same More Than Ready / Flying Spur cross as Group One Golden Slipper winner and now Widden Stud resident stallion Sebring.
More Than Ready is represented with 30 yearlings in the 2012 Easter Sale catalogue, including two from Flying Spur mares.
Kitchwin Hills will offer Ashokan’s yearling half-brother by Red Ransom at Easter as Lot 304
Jade Marauder ($500,000 2011 Easter, 2f Fastnet Rock-Jade Diva) made it a clean sweep of the juvenile Group Three events for Easter when she stormed home to take out the ATC Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) for two-year-old fillies.
The Ingham Racing purchase is one of three Group winners in the last two days by Fastnet Rock that were bought at Easter.
The progressive Maules Creek ($400,000 2009 Easter, 4g Redoute’s Choice-Bramble Rose) then took out the days 2000m quality for older gallopers, the Listed ATC Randwick City Handicap.
From NZ Oaks winner Bramble Rose the Patinack Farm galloper is certainly furnishing into an exciting staying prospect.
Redoute’s Choice is represented with 43 lots at 2012 Easter, including yearlings out of Group One winners Carry On Cutie, Ellicorsam, Ike’s Dream and Star Satire.
Nobby Snip ($185,000 2010 Easter, 3g Snippetson-Pine Away) kept the exceptional run going when winning the Listed ATC Eskimo Prince Handicap (1200m) for three-year-old sprinters, his second straight victory at stakes level.
The Gai Waterhouse trained galloper was purchased by Hong Kong agent Apollo Ng at Easter in 2010 from the draft of Widden Stud, who have 41 yearlings catalogued for this year’s sale.
Mosheen ($250,000 2010 Easter, 3f Fastnet Rock-Sumehra) then recorded her third Group One victory when taking out the day’s feature, the $500,000 Group One ATC Randwick Guineas (1600m) for three-year-olds.
Fastnet Rock has produced five Group One winners from the Easter Sale; Mosheen, Wanted, Speed Baby, Irish Lights and Rock Classic. Coolmore’s red hot son of Danehill is extremely well represented with 50 yearlings in the 2012 Easter catalogue.
Bylong Park will offer Mosheen’s yearling half-brother by Zabeel at Easter as Lot 413.
Rose Of Peace ($170,000 2009 Easter, 4m Hussonet-Rose o’ War) then completed the dominance of Easter graduates at Royal Randwick when winning the Listed ATC Wenona Girl Handicap (1200m) for mares.
Her breeder, Arrowfield Stud, have 32 yearlings heading to the 96th annual Easter Sale next month in Sydney.
Group Two win for Easter graduate at Moonee Valley
On Friday evening Highly Recommended ($235,000 2010 Easter, 3c Fastnet Rock-Suggestive) broke through for a much deserved victory in the Group Two MVRC Alister Clark Stakes for three-year-olds over 2040m at Moonee Valley.
The son of Fastnet Rock was selected from the 2010 Easter Sale by leading trainer Peter Moody, who trained fellow Easter colt Wanted, which is also by Fastnet Rock, to victory in the Group One VRC Newmarket Handicap back in 2010.
The 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held at Inglis’ Newmarket Complex in Sydney from April 10 to 12, between the Australian Turf Club’s Golden Slipper and Derby weekends.
