Slow At Least For Slipper

Racing and Sports - Wednesday, 1 April 2009

Rosehill track manager Lindsay Murphy said Saturday's Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes will be run on a slow track “at the very best”.

After another 42mm of rain overnight Murphy has rated the track a Heavy (8) and believes it is likely to stay that way unless a break in weather occurs in the next 48 hours.

“We had another 42mm up until this morning which tipped us into the heavy range,” Murphy told Sport 927.

“The forecast is for more rain then showers for the next few days but at the moment there's a bit of a break in the weather.

“The track recovers remarkable well but just needs a break to do so.

“I'd say at the very best the track will be slow but it's more likely to stay in the heavy.”

The rail will be out four metres.
