Turangga Farm's young sire Zizou was in hot form on Saturday with his star filly Everage taking the Listed ATC Keith Mackay Quality at Randwick, while at Caulfield Tiarazou scored at her first run for new trainer Gai Waterhouse.
The Craig Carmody trained Everage has been a model of consistency since making her debut on January 25, winning three times and running second three times, so few could begrudge her a Black Type success.
Second at her previous run in the Group III ATC Kindergarten Stakes to promising colt Safeguard, Everage was sent out favourite for this fillies event over 1200 metres and gave punters no cause for concern.
She travelled fourth for Nathan Berry and then strode away in the heavy conditions to win by half a length.
"She's been terrific and full credit to her, she's come a long way in a short space of time," said Craig Carmody.
"She's resilient and tough with a lot of talent."
A $20,000 Inglis Classic purchase for William Huntingdon from the draft of Holbrook Thoroughbreds, Everage (pictured as a yearling) has won $194,850 and with a Black Type win next to her name has assured her future worth as a broodmare.
Bred by Holbrook Thoroughbreds, Everage is the first stakes-winner for Snippets mare Quipster, a grand-daughter of stakes-winning juvenile Alshandegha.
She has a double cross of Golden Slipper winner Rory's Jester and influential broodmare Easy Date, so it's no surprise Everage has proven to be such a tough and talented two year-old.
Her dam Quipster has a filly foal by Dane Shadow and was covered last spring by Hinchinbrook.
Everage is the third stakes-winner for Zizou (pictured) joining Marsellie Roulette and Pitstop, the son of Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) chiming in with another smart two year-old winner after Tiarazou scored at Caulfield.
Transferred to Gai Waterhouse after two starts last year for a win and a second at the Gold Coast, Tiarazou proved the merit in that decision when scooting clear to win the 1000 metre open juvenile event by nearly two lengths.
Passed in at Magic Millions when consigned by Turangga Farm, Tiarazou has won $62,000 from three starts and looks to have more wins in store.
Bred by Stuart Ramsey's Turangga Farm, Tiarazou is the first foal of stakes-winning Beautiful Crown (USA) mare Tenant's Tiara, who traces back to the family of Golden Slipper winner Burst.
Tenant's Tiara has a yearling colt and colt foal to come by Zizou and went to Congrats (USA) last year.
