Snitzel Filly Stars In Nursery

Starspangledbanner graduated from a $250,000 Inglis event to spring stardom this year and Snitzel filly Chance Bye may be destined for a similarly big future after making an ultra impressive debut in today’s inaugural Inglis Nursery.

The Michael Tubman trained filly showed good speed early and then finished off very strongly to win by three and a half lengths in the $250,000 event.

Caulfield Guineas winner Starspangledbanner, who took out the Inglis Juvenile at Moonee Valley last year, has been a wonderful ambassador for the inaugural Inglis Race Series and Chance Bye – who had won a Kembla barrier trial by 12 lengths in readiness for today’s assignment – also looks to have a very bright future.

CHANCE BYE ($15,000 2009 Classic, 2f Snitzel-Rouge Femme) has twice been sold through the Newmarket sales ring. She was initially sold by Torryburn Stud for $11,000 as part of the First Season Sire Showcase at last year’s Inglis Australian Weanling & Breeding Stock Sale, before being secured by Tubman from the Glenlee draft at this year’s Classic Sale.

She looks an absolute bargain now.

Her dam Rouge Femme, a daughter of Red Ransom, is a half-sister to LR Breeders’ Plate winner High Rolling from a family that includes G1 Canterbury Guineas winner Jymcarew.

Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) is already the sire of dual Sydney winner Intertidal this season, and a full-brother to Intertidal is catalogued as Lot 170 for the 2010 Classic Sale.

Today's race was a triumph for Classic, with runner-up Slice And Dice being a $70,000 purchase from the sale this year.

Chance Bye will now try to emulate another $15,000 Classic purchase, last year’s dual stakes winner Our Joan Of Arc, in tackling black type company.

The 2010 Classic Sale will be held at Newmarket from January 24-25.
