Sopressa highlights Inglis graduate success in Adelaide

So You Think filly Sopressa (So You Think x Hidden String) claimed the G1 Australasian Oaks, continuing her sires phenomenal start to his stud career.

The brave performance from the Darren Weir trained filly saw her become the fourth G1 winner for her sire So You Think, joining Inference, La Bella Diosa and D’Argento.

Sold as a weanling at the Inglis Great Southern Sale in 2015 by Bucklee Farm, Sopressa was bought by Dowling Park for $70,000. Following her G1 win today, her earnings are already in excess of $430,000.

Coolmore Australia’s Paddy Oman was ecstatic about the win and how well the sire has started at stud.

“So You Think is one of the best young sires in Australia and we are very lucky to have him,” Oman said.

“Sopressa is the 4th Gr.1 winning three-year-old from his first 2 crops. He is a very potent source of elite races horses that improve as they get older”

“He has enjoyed tremendous support ever since he retired to stud, so with quality offspring coming through year after year, his record is just going to keep getting better and better”

“He is going to form a cornerstone of our roster for the foreseeable future”

Sheezdashing (Myboycharlie x Dashing Oberon) and Miss Admiration (Sebring x Admiring) made the race an Inglis graduates trifecta, sold at the VOBIS Gold yearling sale and Australian Easter yearling sale respectively.

Meanwhile, fellow VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale graduate I’ll Have A Bit swooped late to win the G2 Euclase Stakes, giving her a second stakes victory.

The daughter of Smart Missile was bought by trainer John McArdle’s Redgum Racing operation for $48,000 from Basinghall Farm.

Only one race later Snitzel mare Sprightly Lass (Snitzel x Ultimate Fever) claimed her second consecutive stakes race, winning the G3 DC McKay Stakes at Morphetville.

She was sold by Luskin Park at Easter in 2015, where she as purchased by trainers Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes for $250,000.

Entries are now open for the 2018 Great Southern Sale, to be held from June 17-20 at Oaklands Junction, Melbourne.
