The Inglis Classic Sale was in the limelight at Turffontein in South Africa at the weekend, with a new Group winning graduate and an important G2 winning update for January’s 2010 sale.
Unbeaten Mike de Kock trained three-year-old filly SIDERA ($45,000 2008 Classic, 3f Galileo-Freja) was successful in the Group 3 Gomma Gomma Fillies Mile (1600m).
Prepared for sale by Think Big Stud, she is now the winner of three from three, having previously taken the Listed Starling Stakes earlier this month, which followed a cavalier seven and a half length Maiden win in October.
On the same program, Curved Ball became the latest Australian export to earn international black type, when comfortably taking the G2 Dingaans Stakes (3yo 1600m).
By Fastnet Rock, Curved Ball is from Curvaceous, who was sold at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale for $95,000 – with this colt at foot.
Patinack Farm will offer a Magic Albert half-brother to Curved Ball at the 2010 Classic Sale, where he is catalogued as Lot 521. Curvaceous, a winning daughter of Zabeel from the family of G1 stars like Marscay, Subzero, Centro and Grout, is also the dam of G3 placed Swissac.
Curved Ball’s sire Fastnet Rock has eight yearlings catalogued for the upcoming Classic Sale.
The 2010 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale will be held at Newmarket on January 24 and 25. The Catalogue is now online
